Technology is moving so fast its almost scary and confusing :(

I dont see the point of getting a a top of the range samsung x60 laptop if merom comming in place by the end of this year or later! I cant believe the best x60 is about $10000 pounds in the UK.

I'm considering a Toshiba Satellite a100/4600 from http://www.cybershop.com.au/Notebooks/ToshibaSatelliteA1004600.shtml which is unbelievably cheap for wot it is $1999 AUS. To be honest i rather buy a decent one for now and purchase another one every 2-3 years and resell my old on ebay or something lol.

But the thing is can the satellite duo laptops can be upgraded to merom?

I know so far that that asus a6j models can with their duo can be upgraded to meroms which is fantastic so getting the asus a6j http://www.cybershop.com.au/Notebooks/ASUSA6J.shtml b better for this decision in processor. Be fantastic to know if the toshiba satellite one can do the same thing!

Hard to say whether Toshiba will update the BIOS to support Merom since Merom will be pin compatible with the Core Duo. Toshiba's Australia website does not give any details on the updates in the BIOS for the A100 series. So I wouldnt take Merom support as guranteed. You could try asking Toshiba the question and see what they have to say.
