With a BIOS upgrade, the T7700(2.4GHz-4M cache~$275), T8300(2.4GHz-3M cache~$245), and T9300(2.5GHz-6M cache~$310) have all been reported as possible.

Honestly, I am likely going to grab the T8300 or T9300 budget allowing.
The higher processors just don't seem to be worth the money and the T8300 and T9300 represent the best price/performance of their generation.

Honestly the T8300 seems like the best deal, but I considering the extra $60 to get the T9300 simply to max out this laptop (within reason). While the .1 GHz and the 3MB of cache aren't really that big of a difference now, it might mean more down the road.

A reminder, upgrading this processor is a bit of an exercise in organization by all reports. While I have been told this isn't difficult by any means, it isn't a quick "plop it in" upgrade either. Remember to purchase thermal paste and apply the correct amount (barely enough).

Thanks, is just read, others x205, specifications, they all have same chipset intel, and processor ,just like you mentioned 7700, 8300, 9300. thanks, will be buing one of them,
but how you think ,better 7700? or 8300? ,because, i dont understand, 7700 has 4mb L2 and 8300 3mb L2, so why the 8300 is better?

Honestly, the 8300 is a newer generation and costs less and with only 1MB cache difference doesn't seem to be worth the cost difference.

The 9300 seems to be the best and most up-to-date you can get minus the insanely overpriced X series and $60-65 seems reasonable to push to that level.

The 8300 seems to be the winner for price/performance by a long shot.

The 7700 is previous generation and seems to fit in the middle...

I would definitely consider the T7700 if the price were lower, but for now I'd rather bump a generation as well.

Understand, there will be no big performance difference between the three chips in today's apps.

This IS the last time I plan on upgrading this laptop... and thus grabbing the best available (within reason) has always served me well. Thus the 8300 and 9300 are the two choices I am wrestling with.
