Ok,
I got my core duo processor in the mail today, and after pulling my A205-S5800 apart to put it in (and coming to the conclusion that it is the wrong socket type). I have run into a minor issue, my touchpad no longer works. I have pulled the connector for said touchpad a couple of times and I cannot get it to work no matter what I do. Anyone have a clue what to look at to fix this? It kinda sucks trying to get it working without said touchpad.....
I plugged an external mouse in and could not get Vista to detect the PS/2 Touchpad device it used to. Please help me out here............

Can you see anything in the device manager?
-
no, and that is odd. i am downloading the ubuntu live dvd right now so if it works in that i guess i will have to restore the thing again.................. -
i wouldn't care so much if i had a travel mouse, but i don't and i have to go halfway across the country next week
-
Yeah, see if it works in Ubuntu; if not, it's most likely a physical issue, and not a software one.

Did it get disable some how when or doblue check the touchpad cable
it is in the right way
as pixelot say does show in device manger? -
Go into your BIOS to make sure it is enabled. If the laptop powered on without it plugged in properly it may have automatically disabled it. (Even if you didn't power on, check anyway).
Look for something in the bios referring to the "Internal Touchpad". (That is what my L25 laptop BIOS calls it, yours is probably similar.) Make sure it is Enabled. -
I will check the BIOS tonight, and I am wondering if I damaged the cable since I think I forgot to disconnect it once and pulled it out by accident. If it isn't disabled in the BIOS, I will check the cable with my multimeter and if isn't good I will look for said cable somewhere or see if there is a Toshiba repair center around here............

Did it work in Ubuntu?
-
haven't burned the dvd, but i did fire up the restore disc i got with the laptop and it was not detected. looks like i will be checking the cable tonight and if that doesn't pan out it will end up having issues going through airport security next week.

Hey Runt is your touchpad cable a flat ribbon one with contacts on one side? Make sure that the contacts are on the correct side of the ribbon cable so that they mate with the ones in the motherboard connector. Those ribbon cable sockets can be confusing because you don't really know if the contacts are on the top or bottom of the socket.

yes, it is that way. and i am fairly sure i have plugged it in the right way, since its plugged in the same way every other cable is (contacts down) but i will check tonight.
