Well, this is rather an odd problem. Those of you who know me know I was lusting after an X505 for a long time before I finally picked up a Q893. It hasn't disappointed me at all, but a week ago, I got my first problem with it that has left me stumped.
The touchpad stopped working. That includes the left and right buttons. It's not a huge problem, since I use a mouse, but upon further examination, the Synaptics driver wasn't even finding the touchpad. So I thought, "driver problem", and uninstalled the Synaptics driver so Win7 would use its own driver. Still no joy. I proceeded to download all the driver versions from Toshiba, and none of them work either. Also tried installing in Safe Mode.
The only way to show the touchpad in Device Manager is View>Show Hidden Devices, and then "Synaptics PS/2 Port Touchpad" shows up with a little warning symbol; the status says "This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all its drivers installed. (Code 24)".
I'm at a complete loss. I don't believe it's a hardware error, since the Qosmio has basically sat on a table the whole time. Is there any way I can brute force the touchpad to work? Fn+F9 and the little button above the touchpad both still display, but they don't do anything.
Help?

The tiny button below the space bar is not turned off is it?

@SMOKE SKULL, No it's not. Pressing the button shows the touchpad symbol on the screen, but does nothing.
@alexmuw, I'm still going through that forum, but none of the suggestions have worked yet. -
A red bar LED lights up above the touchpad on mine when its on as well/.
