Hi,
I recently bought a Toshiba Satellite M115-S3094. I can plug an external monitor in, and switch to it with ths FN+F5 keys, but then my touchpad is frozen, the pointer moves a little, but can't really use it. I tried toggling FN+F9 which seems to turn the touchpad on and off. Obviously the built in keyboard is working if it's letting me use the FN keys. I tried booting with the laptop off even so it knows the monitor is there. What am I doing wrong? Thanks much.
(I moved this from the hardware section, maybe better in Toshiba section?)

I also own an M115-S3094 and have had no issues with the touchpad when toggling the display between an external monitor. If Toshiba shipped the system with any sort of display program (other than the toggle switch on the keyboard), I have long since removed it. I also made sure that all the drivers in my system were up to date. (downloaded new touchpad and video drivers) I'd recommend you do the same with yours.

Thanks for the reply. I bought a Wireless Optical Mobile USB mouse, and it works great when I have it hooked to an external monitor, and as long as the USB mouse is "plugged in", the touchpad also works great. Soon as I disconnect the USB mouse, the touchpad loses it's functionality again. Even with F5 set to use the laptop display and no pic on the external monitor, as long as the external monitor is in the laptop's RGB port, the touchpad won't function. (Unless, again the new USB mouse is hooked in also).
This will probably work OK, because if I'm doing any intensive work on the laptop, I'll be using the USB mouse, and I'm sure that will include times when I have it hooked up to a monitor somewhere. I haven't tried the S-video out to my TV yet. That will be a future project. Still wonder what the bug is for the touchpad though. If I can get this and the laptop to stay connected to my router (another thread) when I'm using WPA, I'll be all set.

I got rid of ConfigFree and Toshiba Power Saver, and still a no-go with a secure router (WPA), it's connnected until the laptop goes to sleep.
Touchpad won't work with external monitor on Tosh Sat M115-S3094
