Hi everyone. I just recently bought this machine. I was trying to find out which drivers I would need to downgrade this machine to XP? I just slipstreamed the SATA drivers using nLite and that worked great. Now I am trying to scatter all over to find working drivers for the A205-S5803. Any suggestions or links on where I can start? Thanks!

Just curious, what drivers did you use for SATA, I'm having trouble finding those.

In response to your question, the drivers can be found http://tinyurl.com/4hnex6

For some reason the goof balls at Toshiba US do not want the US market to use Windows Xp on our laptops. With that being the case here is what you have to do, and what I did, to load Windows Xp (with Sp3) on my Toshiba:

Find your laptop product number and match it to the best model fit product number found on the Europe Toshiba web-site. For the A205-S5803 (PSAF3U) use the following: PSAE3E

    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe....action=search&teddProduct=725&selShortMod=518

There you will find every Xp driver for your system. Download them all (or at least the ones you'll need to boot up into Xp). Some of the drivers you may not need if they are not supported by your particular hardware devices, but it doesn't hurt to collect them all. You may need them in the future.

Be sure to slipstream your Xp Installation Disk with the correct SATA drivers (go to Intel and get the ones for the GL960 chipset) or you will not get far during the XP installation.

Once loaded up and all the drivers are in place, your laptop will perform like it should. Say goodby to Vista! If you want to keep Vista (and I can't think of a reason you would), dual boot it. Se sure to get Vista BootPro (or similar freeware) to make changes to the Vista boot manager file or you will not be able to boot back to drive C.

LittleP, that's a great tip! How do you figure out which European model corresponds to the US one? I have a Satellite A200-ST2043. I looked around the European site but couldn't figure out which one corresponds.

Well! Just after I posted, I noticed that the part # for my laptop was exactly the same as the one you linked to! So I went there and got the drivers, and they (some of them) worked! I now have sound on my laptop! Yay! :) Unfortunately I got a system incompatibility error when I tried to install the display driver...

If anyone has any idea where to find a working XP display driver for the A200 ST-2043, let me know. I've tried everywhere I can think of...

WOOT! I found a video driver, too. In case anyone's in the same boat as I was, if you get an error whenever you try to install the official video driver, check out this site - their driver not only worked for me when EVERYTHING else had failed but also includes lots of cool tweaks and tools such as overclocking and screen res customization. HIGHLY recommended!

    http://www.omegadrivers.net/ati_winxp.php

Looks like they have drivers for nearly every graphics card and system.

Yay, it's so good to be looking at a screen with decent resolution again (I spent the last few days with an 800x600 display stretched out over a widescreen...)
