Ahh thanks. Does anyone know the default memory allocation on the Toshiba U200-115 thats on sale at PCWorld? Is it 2x512MB of SO DIMM or 1x1024MB SO DIMM?

No, its the type of memory like PC4300 or PC5300. Thats got me particularly stumped.

I have a U200. All the documentation I have read say that it uses DDR2 PC4200 which is 533mhz. However, as far as I know you can use DDR2 PC5300 which is 667mhz. The only thing is, it will run at 533mhz for our application. I have tested many types of memory in mine. All being 2 X 1gig sticks. The following I have tested and do work:

    Patriot Signature PC2 5300
Corsair Value Select PC2 5300 (what I'm using now)
    Kingston Value Ram PC2 4200

I have tried a few other types of RAM too. The best value however is the Corsair Value Select PC2 5300. It was well priced and is of high enough standards that it works in my Intel Mac too which are notorious for being picky with ram.

Where would I be best to purchase this RAM from? I've seen a 2x1024MB PC2-5300 configuration from PCworld for £174.99. Is this a decent enough price?

That sounds like a pretty good price to me.

That is SUPER EXPENSIVE!!! I only paid $204.99 but they are on sale now for $188.26 Canadian!!! It works, as I tested this ram in my Intel C2D Imac and my Toshiba U200 and a Toshiba M70.
