A friend dropped water near the back of her U300. After letting it dry for a few days the laptop works fine except there`s no backlit.
The screen does come on, you just need an external source of light to see it.
Damaged LCD or Inverter?
Thanks

The symptom you describe indicates the backlight is not working but the LCD panel itself is OK. I would suspect the inverter. It produces a high voltage for the backlight tube and would be particularly vulnerable to any water.

Thanks!
I`ll try replacing the inverter first. -
Alright another question...
The model she has is the U300-NS5 (psu30c-ns508c). I took the inverter out and the part number is AS023173359.
Does Toshiba use the same inverter on all U300 models? I found one inverter AS023173100 which is supposed to be a replacement for A000015890 and the vendor says it`s compatible with all U300 models.
Thanks!
