I am thinking about buying the U405 and I went to Best Buy to try it out. The demo unit's touchpad was having a lot of problems, so I couldn't test it right. I asked about the touchpad and whether you could tap to click or if you had to use the button below the pad. The salesperson indicated that the particular touchpad on the U405 doesn't allow tap to click and you have use the button to do a mouse click. I thought this was odd and wanted to confirm.

Can you tap on the pad itself to do a mouse click or do you have to use the buttons below the pad to do a mouse click?

    TIA!

I played with one at Circuit City and I'm sure I was tapping to click on things, since that's how I always do it. I don't remember noticing that it worked, but I'm sure I would remember if it didn't, if that makes any sense.

    Thanks for the reply.

I got a chance to go Office Depot today to try it out and the tap to click worked like all other laptops.

I ultimately decided to buy the computer from Best Buy (U405-2826) today. I am using it now and it is a great computer. Very nice screen, small, a little heavy for its size, but still great.
