No one tried USB 3.0? Im still reading a lot of complaints with the new interface and third party drivers. Look how long it took to get USB 2.0 right. I kid you not, USB 2.0 worked better on my old Mac B&W 300 than my HP Ze4000!
I got a chance to try out the Seagate Goflex 1T drive to see if Toshiba did their home work. Wow, everything worked fine. No hang ups, drive disappearing or other complaints read on a few of the forums.
BTW, both WD and Seagate are using 5400 rpm drives. I think we are seeing saturation of the new interface and third party drivers as my 7.2k drive was slower; but 80% full.
Now how did I test my bare 7.2 drive? The Goflex has a removable front plug that will allow you to change interfaces, like USB 3.0 to Firewire or eSata if you wish. Well the plug will let you plug in your bare 2.5 Sata drives like a drive dock if so inclined.
Next on my list is to check out the smaller WD 1T drive.
10X faster than USB2.0? Not on my i5..maybe on your desktop?
I found about 3X faster from 30MB/s on USB 2.0.
Below is internal Toshiba drive vs Goflex on the bottom.

I found USB 3 speeds to vary and never exceed esata speeds. esata seems really stable all the time, whereas USB 3 one minute goes good, the 5 seconds later slows down to USB 2 speeds. The faster connection I have right now is a 3TB Seagate Barracuda drive in an esata enclosure. The download speeds to that are insane. Even faster than transferring for two internal hdds. USB 3 is buggy still IMHO

Yep, lot of people have nothing good to say about USB 3.0. i hear this may be fixed when Intel gets fully invloved.
Considering sata to usb conversion then back to sata, how could anything be faster than the original drives? I always found internal sata to sata fastest but my old FX had a poor esata port.
I heard the most complaints on the Asus forum, btw, did you use WD, Seagate or third party 3.0 drive?
cheers -
mine runs at about 3x usb 2.0 speeds on my seagate goflex slim, bug free on anything i've thrown at it so far, keeps speeds constant and doesnt bomb out or disappear.
never actually tried eSATA, as yet seagate havent released a kit to use with the goflex slim. -
I used a Seagate Goflex.

My new used/warranty Goflex 3.0 benches faster than my internal Toshiba drive using both of my utilities.
I also included a picture that shows how Seagate will let u turn any 2.5” drive into a USB 3.0 drive. The base/dock works just like the 1T drive portable adapter I used two week ago. I did not have a 3.5” drive to try as a bare drive dock.
BTW, both drives shown are warranty replacements over the years. Seagate will send you a like new used drive, mine had 6 hours on it, for the remainder of your original drives warranty period. NP, I went from 3 year old 500G USB 2.0 drive with heating problems, the case, to a 1T drive
My mixed 489 Gig mixed file back up took 5h:54min with USB 2.0. ; then 1:54 min using the 1T USB 3.0 drive.
USB3.0 on the Qosimo?
