Hi folks,
I was wondering whether anyone could share their experience undervolting (or trying to...) a Toshiba R700 or its (close) relatives.
I'm a bit of a dinosaur, so the software I remember using (RMClock, largely) won't work in core i CPUs. I've been doing some reading and people tend to revert to Intel XTU for newer processors. The extent to which the XTU works with early generations of core i CPUs is apparently debatable, as is the extent to which the ability to play around with voltages is locked in bios.
I went ahead and installed the Intel XTU, but the "standard tuning" tab is missing and the "advanced tuning" tab is empty. The internet is riddled with reasons as to why that may be, but many don't apply and I can't quite work out whether some others do.
So, is/has anyone underclocking(ed) their first generation core i CPU? Did the Intel XTU do the trick? Did you use a different piece of software?
Cheers

Have you tried Throttlestop? It supports undervolting on recent Intel CPUs.

I think there is no way to undervolt those early CPU's, at least I know that Sandy and Ivy dont support undervolting on the laptop models.

Oops, sorry, just noticed these replies.
Undervolting Toshiba R700 (or similar models) - any luck?
