I tried to upgrade my memory from 1GB to 4GB DDR2-5300. I bought 4GB DDR2-5300 from Crucial.com. I check out the reference from Crucial.com that 4GB DDR2-5300 compatible with my laptop Toshiba A105-S4384. I upgraded already and review on the property of my PC, I just saw at 3GB only. I tried to contact the customer service of Toshiba already. They said that this system only recognize 3GB with upgraded 4GB. It isn't true for BIOS and on the XP Window.
I need some ones help me out how this work to solve this issue. I download the BIOS 6.0 from Toshiba already. I still get nervous to update the BIOS from my laptop. Someone have any ideas to help me out, please give me some ideas for this issue.
    Thanks

    Welcome to the forum,

To see 4GB, you need a 64 bit Operating system(like XP Pro 64bit/Vista 64bit and a chipset that it able to properly address all the ram.

From what i know about the A105-S4383, you DO NOT have a 64bit OS and your chipset (mobile Intel 945 chipset) can only see ~3GB(sometimes less or more depending on hardware).

Besides, you probably wont notice the difference between 3GB and 4GB.

    I agree what Kdawgca says.
Try to find yourself a 64-bit, you probably won't notice the extra GB.
