After the death of my G73JH I got this Qosmio only to realise that it was an i5...
So I decided to put my Asus' i7 720QM processor in there...

The process went on smoothly till after the first boot, I realised that the machine would not boot past the OS selection screen. I reset the BIOS to default settings and it worked.

But I forgot one thing, before the Asus died, the "Turbo Mode" had been enabled, meaning that the CPU had been overclocked.

I doubt if the Qosmio's cooling system is cooling the processor well. I checked with speed fan and the CPU temperature is at about 75C... I don't like the look of that. The Intel Turbo Boost Monitor also says I'm doin 2.40-2.66Ghz. Intel Processor ID Utility says the processor reported a CPU speed of 1.72Ghz instead of 1.6Ghz.

Unfortunately, the BIOS of this laptop doesn't support overclocking or "underclocking"...

    Any ideas???

    Thanx in advance...

Something is wrong. The x505 Qosmios come with i7 quad cores and don't idle that high. Before I got this q8102X, I had a q894 with an i7-740QM. It idled in the low 40s.

Might want to try here instead: Hardware Components and Aftermarket Upgrades

    Will probably get more hits.
