My Girlfriend has a Toshiba Satellite Pro A100 and she's only got 512mb of ram. We bought her a gig stick, which should be coming tomorrow morning and I got her to bring my place and now I was just looking at it and I realised that I have no idea where the memory goes. I know how to upgrade it but I don't know which panel to open up for it.
Can anyone help me with this one?

the place that you are looking for is underneath the laptop itself.
there should be a big panal of plastic that you will need to unscrew and pop open and then there should be two slots in that area. the other option is underneath the keyboard, but that can be a bit harder -

It should be a big plastic panel around the centre of the bottom of the machine. You'll need a very small philips-head screwdriver to open the cover. When installing the ram slide the pins into the holder from above at an angle and then carefully push the rest of the chip down flat and it should click into place.
Good luck! -
My problem is that there are two different panels I think it could be. There is one right in the centre of the laptop and one under where the arrow keys could be.
It's gonna be a 50-50 chance to get the right one first time. I guess I'll have to just see how it goes then. -
The smaller cover under the Arrow Keys is the Disk Drive. The Mempry is under the large cover in the middle.
You will probably find that there are already two 256MB SODIMMs fitted so you will have to remove one to add the 1GB upgrade. This will give you a total of 1280MB and a spare 256MB SODIMM. -
Just to let anyone who might search for this subject know. My girlfriends A100 had one stick of 512mb ram. It was the centre panel that had to be taken out and it is very easy to put the new ram in.
