    Hi all,

My friend owns a Toshiba A215-S7422, with a 1.90 Ghz Turion 64 X2 processor, and 1 GB of DDR2 dual-channel RAM (cas latency: 5.0, DRAM frequency: 316 Mhz). He has Windows Vista Home 32-bit installed on it. Anyway, my friend experiences a lot of slowdown while using this laptop and I thought that upgrading the RAM would probably really help.

Crucial's Memory Advisor tells me the system can handle up to 4 GB of PC2-6400 or PC2-5300 DDR2 RAM. I was thinking of buying Corsair 2GB PC2-6400 RAM from Newegg ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233079&cm_re=pc6400-_-20-233-079-_-Product)

However before I spend the cash ($43.99) I wanted to confirm from some living Toshiba users that 1) this RAM will work (if I get working RAM! I believe Crucial's advice, I just wanted to make sure) and 2) Right now, there's 2 x 512 MB RAM in there filling the two slots. If I buy this 2 GB Corsair stick, it would be better to take both 512 MB sticks out and just put the 2 GB in, right? Or could I leave one 512 MB in one slot and put the 2GB Corsair in the other?

Thanks so much for reading this - also if you have any other RAM recommendations or warnings please let me know!
