I've never considered buying a Toshiba notebook before but I saw the new Satelite U405 at Office Depot and I like it. Playing with it for a few minutes I like how the trackpad and mouse buttons feel. I'd appreciate if anyone who has purchased one can give your opinions on it both positive and negative.

I ordered mine based, for the most part, on JerryJ's review. Its due in tomorrow - I'll post an update once I've had a chance to check it out. I have had two previous 14" Toshiba's - an M-105 and the second was the M-105's replacement. I didn't have any complaints about build quality on either - just eventually became tired of the slooooow integrated graphics.

hey, trust your feeling , no need others tell you what to get really........

there are not many craps(these are all out of business by now) any more out there ,so you should choose what you think you will like or fond of , not others like or by any sort of name or brand.

cosrocket - I received my U405-S2820 today - and I like it alot. Very bright LCD has excellent colors but has some bleeding on the bottom, case is more solid than I expected - I guess you could make it flex but not unintentionally. I already have XP on it and I've found all but one of the drivers (still don't have mass storage).

I have a ICH8M slipstreamed XP CD so XP install was straight-forward. I haven't had it long enough (installing Vista on a 160-Gb drive now - I pulled the 250 and am making the 160 a dual-booter) to assess battery life.

Besides the great LCD, the next best thing to me is how small and light it is - just the ticket for traveling. So far - I highly recommend it...

Thanks JellyGeo, I'm going to OD tonight to check it again. It looks like what I'm looking for.
