Are all the components of the m40 the same ? IE. Same quality builds ? same problems same quality? I remember some time back people were complaining about buzzing noises coming from the speakers and such. Do the newer m40s still have these problems?

I bought my M40 for about one week, and it runs so quiet that even I'm working with it in a closed room, I can't hear any "noice" besides some "click" sound occasionally from hdd, which is very normal.

For the Wireless switch problem, it's strange for me. It exists when I've freshly formated, installed WindowsXP Pro and Wireless driver (even I've already upgraded the BIOS to 1.2 which is supposed to solve the problem). But after I've installed all the other drivers (they're not related to wireless device) the problem suddenly gone. I don't know why, but that's my case.

    Hi,

Can you please let me know what drivers did you install? I've got the same problem with the wireless switch and I can't upgrade the bios (the bios that comes with the notebook is 1.30, which is newer than 1.20 in Toshiba website). Thanks.

tjlau: I installed the driver version 9.0.2.25 from intel offical site and it should fix the wireless problem. ( http://support.intel.com/support/wireless/wlan/sb/CS-010623.htm )

learner: Mine should be same as yours learner, besides I've added ram to 1gb. if your screen is noisy, I will regard this as a product defect and replace it for a new one.
