Huge fan of Tosh laptops - this is my 3rd one. Currently I have a Satellite p105.

I got it in may of 06. No doubt, I've gotten my money's worth, and then some. Generally, I keep my laptops for about 2 years. But, I'm trying to make due until we get out of this economic malaise and I know my job is secure. So, I'm tryin to get the most out of this for as long as I can.

But, about a month ago, 1 vertical yellow line was on my screen. Now, I have 4 - some yellow, one blue. Its not a big deal. It was when it first happened. But, I've gotten used to it.

I looked for a cause and solution and found a lot. Too hot, drivers need updated, the screen could be ed.....

I've come to accept that these lines will continue to pop up.

Anybody else? Did you fix it? How can I fix it?

as soon as it powers up, the lines come up.

i just started searching these forums, - just registered.

and it seems like it could be a graphics card poopin out too.

Thats what it sounds like to me........Seems like a relatively normal problem for a laptop that gets a lot of use, like mine.

Easy to replace? Is it worth it?

    Thoughts?

    Thanks!

If it's the graphic card, then no. Its permanent stuck in there. If it's the LCD (which I think may be it), yeah, you can fix it without problems. Look up under forums how to replace and what kind of screen you require. If you don't know what you are doing, take it to a computer shop. Obviously you will pay more.

Yeah, I was looking online and found a lot of NOs about replacing a graphics card. And yeah, I don't know what I'm doing. I have a tiger direct store near where I live. I'll swing by and ask them. Thanks!

Yeah I highly don't recommend dissecting your laptop since you don't know what you are doing.

    Good luck,

Has anyone gotten their vertical lines fixed (Toshiba Satellite P105). My lines are now growing in number in geometric proportions. Its definitely time to take action. Would appreciate hearing success and disaster stories so I can figure out my next step.

Try plugging an external monitor on your lappy and see if you still get the lines.
