OK guys, I just bought Toshiba X205-49 and was thinking about giving it a clean install to get rid of pre-installed bloatware. I first thought I should install the 64-bit version, however I have read some ppl advicing not to do so. Could anybody explain me why?
I mean, wouldn't it be reasonable to install the 64-bit version to benefit from its features, rather than installing the other one?
Thank you in advance.
Oh, by the way, just one more thing: Are the drivers of this baby up to date in Toshiba's website? Or would you recommend downloading them from their own websites (such as nVidia's)?

The problem with notebooks is drivers. Depending on your manufacturer, the availability of "working" drivers limits your OS choice.
Oh, and are going to use more than 4GB of ram? If so, then utilize the x64 edition. -

64 bit is certainly better....at least for me....but look for the driver support for ur hardware.
Follow this thread in my signature. The driver there are for Dell. But apart from that it shud help u...!! -
I would also look for SOFTWARE support. A lot of software still isn't compatible with Vista 64, which makes me wary of endorsing it at the moment.

I had the same question, and was playin with a buddy's pc running Vista64 that's an IT guru, and a lot of the games and programs we were trying out wouldn't run properly, as they weren't setup for 64 mode.... I'm sure that'll get better with time, but, it was enough to convince me to stick with 32 for now, and so far haven't had any problems with vista and compatibility.... yet anyway... knock on wood! He's been blaming vista in general, but so far I've been pleasantly pleased with vista32

If you plan to instal the 4 gigs of ram anywhere in the near future, I guess you'll need x64, because 32-bit Vista will see only 3 gigs - this is already confirmed on actual X200.
Actually nobody yet checked if x64 will see all 4 gigs (becase it may not due to some technical issues).
As far as I've seen, all drivers I've installed on my clean Vista had versions for x64, so it should not be a problem.
Vista 32 or 64. Which one would u install?
