    Hi,

I have installed Windows Vista Ultimate on my laptop and installed all of the drivers from the Toshiba website for Vista.

I recently bought 5.1 speakers and wanted to use the SPDIF connection. In Vista under the speaker configuration settings, it only shows Stereo option. Digital speaker is enabled.

Does anyone know if this is a driver problem or how I can force it to output 5.1 speaker configuration. Also, in Windows Media Center the settings for speaker setup only allow for 2.1 to be selected (5.1 and 7.1 are greyed out).

Any help would be appreciated, this is very frustrating.

    Jason

I have the SAME exact problem. In Vista, when I output to my 5.1 surround system it only does 2.1 with the SPDIF and It wont allow me to default it to 5.1. The only way it'll go to 5.1 is if you play a DVD using WinDVD and then it'll change to 5.1
