So, I installed the SP1 for Vista last night, and was playing around a bit today, and it shows 4.00 GB of RAM under device manager, where as before was only showing a tad over 3GB.... I popped in 4GB a few weeks ago with plans to later go to Vista 64, but am wondering now, does the new SP1 allow Vista to recognize more than 3GB in 32bit mode???

Microsoft changed the way the OS reports the amount of memory. From now on it will report the installed memory not what is available to the OS. So, you are still bound by the limitations but Vista is just reporting the actual amount of installed RAM.

I read something about this. It actually reports the amount physically installed now, not the amount that is available.
So you're still stuck with ~3GB usable.
You cannot get 4GB with a 32bit OS unless the system requires NO addresses for hardware (which means no system!). -
Ok, thank's for the clarification.... sneaky one there ha, I didn't think it was possible with a 32bit os, but was confused. Thanks!
Vista SP1 recognizes all 4GB?!?!?
