Hi,
My Toshiba Satellite 2400-S201 is two years old.
It has become very slow since quite sometime now. Files take time to open(Words, Excel, etc), programs take time to "open" and to "process" as if it's an ancient machine, even the Start > Programs Menu takes time to display the menu items.
I have upgraded it recently to more that 500 MB of RAM. It's 1.6, 30 GB hard disk, etc (The model number tells all about it's configuration).
Just got an Idea of formatting it's original WIN XP OS. I have an extended warranty of two more years. Is it a good idea to format it on my own, will it help? or should I go to the Toshiba Care. If I can do it then how? I have got the back up of all the stuff fearing it's crash.
Please Help.
Thanks,
Chris

A format will likely solve your problem, unless there are other hardware issues going on. Over time computers get slow as programs are installed , some not removed all the way, and other "wear and tear." I'd do it yourself, it's not hard. Just make sure you have everything saved off that you want. Easy to forget things include your email and bookmarks.
