    Can somebody help me?
I am at my wits end trying to find a laptop to suite me.
Was planning on the A305-S6845 but Toshiba took it off their site.

I love the specs of the 6845 except I would like just one hard drive at 320GB.
Would go with the 6844 if it were 32 bit opposed to 64.

If I go the route of system configuration (ST4004) would my selection be IDENTICLE to the 6845 in every way except my choosing the 320GB? I mean too about same software included?

Now I am wanting maybe a 17" with numeric keyboard?
I work with graphics, making movies/slideshows to burn onto DVD's to play in a standalone DVD player, digital pictures etc., video and what nots.
I use MSWord a lot. Those are my priorities.
Price, no more than 1200 or so.

    flip218,

Like I say, I would be thoroughly satisfied with the A305-S6844 if I understood what the 64 bit is all about in being compatible with my software video/PSP programs I use on my WinXP desktop. Would they work bit wise?

It is hard for me to sit at the desktop for long periods to where I figured using the laptop in my recliner would be a blessing.
The 6844 also has the Total Available Graphics Memory 1279MB like the 6845 according to the Toshiba specs site.
Seeing that the 6844 is identicle to the 6845 with the exception of the hard drives, I'd love to have it if it were a 32 bit. If the 64 bit would not interfere with my software programs and transfers back and forth with my desktop, I'd go for it.

Configuring the ST404 way, I can not customize to be the same as, so will have to buy already made up from some place.

    Thank you for your input.
    Urlee ;)

Is the Toshiba A305-S6844 a 32bit/64bit version to where it is 32 unless you get a "64 bit Key" to make it 64 bit?

No, mine came with 64 bit installed.

hmmm ... I did not see the option for that in catalyst control. Doesn't give you an option to adjust what extra you want to allocate for graphics.

Also, 32 bit programs will still work on a 64 bit OS.

I read that in the "Specs" as this:

    YOU GOT TO BE KIDDING???????

I called Toshiba yesterday and was told NOT to get the S6844 because none of my programs would work on it. I mean software like PSP7 & 9 and my Photo Movie making software.
GOSH if I was assured they'd work THEN S6844, here I come! I would LOVE that laptop if it would work with what I would use it for. Are they what you call 32 bit programs as that is what he said, "quote" none of the 32 bit programs will work on a 64 bit operating machine.

Also I asked about the key thing and he said if it says the operating system says it is 64 bit, then it is 64 and not 32.

Umm... For more obscure (or high-end) software that may be so but definitely for a lot of programs these days, 64 bit is supported. All modern games are for example.
