I bought a Toshiba Satellite X205-S7483, excellent gaming system, very pleased with it (after I managed to get all the driver for XP, Vista was HORRIBLE). I work in the game industry and my Alienware died the night before I had to fly to a conference, and I needed a gaming laptop and Bestbuy came to the rescue with the system. I would have waited and gotten the higher processor system if I would have had the time.
The system handles just about all games, but some of the very highest end games it can get a little chunky with. The only bottleneck is the processor (plenty of ram and a great video card), it has a T5450 (1.66gz), and I was thinking of upgrading to a T7700.
Here is the million dollar questions:
Can I just do a straight swap of the processor and drop in a new T7700?
Are the T5450 and the T7700 both the same slot type?
Does the motherboard chipset support a T7700?
If the answers to the above questions are "yes", then I can take the next step of finding out how to get that new processor installed.
Thanks!

find out if they are the same socket type... socket p for the t7700
and if the mobo. supports an 800mhz fsb
if they do it should work -
Yep, you can.... it'll drop right in, several on here have done it so far.... one guy even put a X7900 in his, but i believe has since removed it due to not being able to overclock in the bios. Is a doable swap, fairly labor intensive though. Search for the X205 dissassembly guide and it'll show ya what you're up against. But, bottom line, yes, the T7700 will drop in and work fine in your X205. Enjoy! And I agree, I love these systems!
