Hi Folks. Happy Holidays! It's been a while since I've been around these parts but this is the first place I thought of for an oddball question regarding my 8 year old Toshiba 5005-S504 Satellite.

After all these years of service I'm going to reformat and I wanted the best video drivers I can get. The Toshiba support site only lists drivers that are almost as old as the notebook PC itself. The graphics chip is designated only as GeForce2Go. I think it's the very first generation of that chip. The Nvidia site doesn't list this chip specifically but I was wondering if I could use the 195.62 drivers that are listed for 100 and 200 series GeForce notebook applications.

I know this is probably a reach but I'm looking to squeeze the most out of this old but still dependable secondary household web surfing PC.

    Thanks!

I don't think you can use the 100/200 series drivers. How old is this card?

The 100/200 drivers are the drivers for NVIDIA's most recently released cards, the GT/S100 and GT/S/X 200 series. That said, I'm actually running 195.62 on my 8600 GTS...

Are you sure it isn't listed. If it is old, maybe they don't have support for it anymore...

And shouldn't dxdiag list the exact model number of the card?

The only driver that the Toshiba support site lists is for nVidia GeForce 440 display adapter (ver. 28.46) date of release 6-12-2002. That's one old video driver and if I'm stuck with that, so be it. I was just hoping that the universal architecture that nVidia brags about would lend itself to me using a newer driver for better performance from an older chip. Maybe I'll just try that 195.62 driver and see what happens. Thanks for the response CZX58.
