Hi there guys, a friend has some problems with her screen on her toshiba a305d.

    [Edit]

The problem appears at random, she's using the laptop and after 15 minutes or more it starts lagging and the weird artifacts or lines appear then she has to restart the computer.

I think it has some overheating problems, but in some hours I will try to check it.

    Thanks!

Huh? Any way that you could word that better?

Anyway, have you tried using an external monitor? It looks like either a GPU problem or an LCD cable problem.

Ok, I will try to get an external monitor and test it.

I too think it's a gpu overheating problem or drivers.

    Thanks

Bump I talked with the girl today and told me her laptop doesn't have those lines anymore she let it rest it for about 2 days. Maybe the cpu and gpu were stressed for some reason, so I told her to buy a notebook cooler pad, but just in case I would check the laptop next week.

If anything happens before Wednesday I will post it.

Thanks to everyone who took his/her time to read the thread.

This time the gpu is not the one giving problems, it's the CPU. She reported me 100 °C and the laptop turns off itself in normal mode, but in safe mode it's seems everything is ok.

    [Edit]
I told her to run RealTempGT, it marked 83~84°C, load 95.1%
her cpu is T5550, thermal status is ok...

    Everest marks this
    63°C on Cpu
    56°C on CPU1
    55°C on CPU2
    GMCH1 51°C
    HDD 50°C

    Cpu voltage 1.06V

Download and run a utility and test the CPU with Orthos stress test. Check the temperature while running the test, and keep on running the test until you are sure it's hit the maximum temp.

3 possible cause of line on screen. BAD LCD, LCD cable and GPU. Check with external monitor? if pic is normal with external than LCD or cable (mostly LCD)
