I bought my wife a Toshiba Satellite A505 - S6965 back in August and we've been very happy with it. Now I'm looking to get my wife's daughter a laptop, but i don't see this model selling anywhere as new any more. Is there a comparable model I should be looking at? I see Worst Buy has the A505-6980 with a bundle for a reasonable price:

Not sure if that's a good lappy or not though, so I thought I'd check with the experts... :D

I don't think my wife's daughter is a gamer, so I think the intel crap video should be fine. If there's a comparable system with better graphics for a similar price, I'd be happy to hear about it though. Thanks all! :)

It's alright. Nothing to particularly be proud of. Honestly, just my opinion, I would go with a dedicated GPU, it's worth the premium. Plus, what happens if it turns out that the person you are buying it for ends up wanting to play some games?

So, is there a reasonably good model that has a 2Ghz+ processor, 4GB RAM, at least a 320GB hard drive 15" or larger screen and a dedicated GPU that won't be over $750? That's what I paid for my wife's A505-S6965 in August and I can't go more then that. I need to verify, but I'm almost positive she doesn't play anything more intense the Mafia Wars out on FB.

Well, got an owner of the laptop I'm looking at post on another forum and said it's a great laptop, so I'm gonna run out and pick one up this weekend. I'll post my thoughts when I get it home and get it setup.

Picked this laptop up at Best Buy this weekend. I haven't had time to do much other then boot it up, uninstall some of the demo software, install full office 2007, MSE and logmein. The system is very similar to the previous model I bought for my wife. The biggest differences are the crap intel video this one comes with, meaning it'll most likely suck for any real games and this system comes with a 12 cell battery, supposedly good for up to 7 hours or so of battery life. The battery extends down for the bottom of the laptop, instead of out from the back, so when sitting on a flat surface, the laptop sits at a bit of an incline. Seems to be the perfect angle for typing. I'm curious how uncomfortable this might end up being if used on the lap though. Ah well, I got a gift receipt with it, so if she doesn't like it she can take it back and get whatever she wants.
