Toshiba has some nice machines out there... 4k screens, nice form factors, good specs, except...
I haven't found a single 2-in-1 in their line with a battery over 45wh and most of them are 40-42wh. This might work for a desktop replacement that your assuming the ac adapter is always coming along for the ride... but on a 2-in-1 its not all that useful.
Other vendors put 45wh batteries in their budget 2-in-1s and 55-66wh or more in their top of the line units. Toshiba sticks to their lilttle 40-45wh battery then doubles down by including 4k screens and spinning hard drives to make sure they suck the power dry before lunch time.
The first clue is 15.6" 2-in-1s. When you have a device that big... its really screaming PUT A BATTERY IN ME.. the room is there.
This one issue pretty much has taken the entire toshiba family out of the running for my next computer purchase.

I will give you that one... Toshiba has some great ideas when it comes to their 2-in-1 and ultrabook division, but I feel like when the products release they are a flop. They really need to restructure, it seems like they can't decide what market they want to be in... either the low end or high end.
I have been using the Toshiba Radius 12 4k edition for the past few months and absolutely love it (aside from the battery and fan).Alchemist likes this. -
Interestingly enough the Radius 15 4k has the same battery in it that the Radius 12 4k does.... they play the spec game a bit... they always have 1080p and 4k models... but always quote the battery life of the 1080p version.
When you look at 2-in-1s on the market... they all have the same innards... U series SOC, m2 or 2.5" ssd, etc. all this stuff takes the same amount of room. So ANY 15" 2-in-1 has room for a BIG battery they just don't bother. Very annoying. You can pick up Toshiba 4k 15" refurbs for $600 or so... which would be a good deal except for the blasted battery.
What is Toshibas obsession with tiny batteries and spinning platters on 2-in-1 laptops?
