I was trying out the 174.93s and I just decided to throw the mem clock to 880[1760MHz] w/o touching the core/shader just to see. That resulted in a 150pt increase in 3DMark w/o any added heat to the gpu [Total: 7333]. I know the monitor isn't exactly focused on the RAM so what exactly is up on it.. IDK
So, what's a safe amount of abuse for the 8600M's VRAM?

Well all gpu's are different so try not to blow your laptop up ok
3Dmark scores will vary each time you run it, even on the same settings, & especially with sli gpu's. I also wouldn't "throw clocks up just to see" Slow and steady wins the race

Slow and steady is indeed good... but with overclocking you can basically push it up to where you start to see artifacts and then back it down little by little from there until you get a "maximum" stable overclock. all though i would definitely take the slow and steady advice because you certainly dont want to turn it up "all the way" which will likely cause a pretty severe crash that is not good for your computer. try searching around a bit in this forum there have been lots of discussions in the past about overclocking on the Sli series notebooks...
What is the highest you would OC the VRAM on the sli1?
