I'm trying to take apart my Toshiba Qosmio G25 and came across this screw (see pic) underneath in the battery compartment area... anyone know what type of screw this is and where i can get the screwdriver? (I've checked at Radio Shack but no luck) Never seen anything like it... star pattern with a little bump in the centre... weird.

    Thanks for any help...

Looks like you may have to make a screwdriver into that configuration with a dremel or grinding wheel.

I think its a T4 or T6. Those are pretty much the standard torx used on laptops.

You need a "keyed" torx screwdriver.

The term "keyed" is used because the screw has a small metal cylinder in the middle, to prevent it from being taken out.

They sell keyed torx screwdrivers, they are just a little harder to find.
Just make sure the screwdriver you get has a hole in the end, so that the key can fit into the end of the screw

It's one of the many flavours of "security" Torx screws. You need a set of security Torx hex bits to fit to into screwdriver body - lots of them on eBay and they are very cheap and you get a wide range of bits.

If you haven't got a screwdriver body that takes hex bits, then get one! Or ideally a large ratchet one and a smaller fixed "stubby"

All-in-one screwdrivers are now something I only use when working on car engines. I've dropped too many hex bits into the darkness ...
