I am about to start college and i want something durable. Also i want a dual core processor with 1.73ghz+

2) What size notebook would you prefer? 15" or 15.4"

4) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like? i really dont know.
5) What tasks will you be performing with the notebook? Some gaming and school work

8) How many hours of battery life do you need? 3+ would be nice

You might be able to configure a Dell Inspiron 1520 for that price. If you can't you can try xoticpc.com or powernotebooks.com for HEL80 with decent specs as you wanted.
