I would like to find something similar to the power of Inspiron 9300 but have a good looking screen (I mean usable for a long time). Was thinking about A75 series, they have very good screens, but I don't know if P4 will be any good as far as fan noise goes. Anyone has good experience with them? I do not consider any Sonies, they have bad keyboards even though they have good looking screens as well as Toshibas.
Thanks a wat.

In order for anyone to really recommend a system, we need to know what you're going to be using the system for, cost, etc... You can goto this link so you can provide the required info.

The reason why I'm providing the link is because the 2 systems you listed are not in the same range. One is a 17" model & the other a 15.4".

If you are talking GPU power there isn't really something comparable , also in terms of spec/$ the 9300 beats the competition .
I can't agree more that the wxga screen isn't good enough , but it is useable for a long time .
The closest is the Gateway 680 but it will be 500$ more for a WSXGA screen , yet only X700 GPU which is about 30% less powerfull . -
I am using notebook for office work mostly, sometimes playing UT, constant movies and music, but that can be done by any current laptop. I took 17" because I thought to have a little more estate with readable resolution. Dell had good deal, but their screen is not good for me (I am not going to explain myself many times), and the keyboard is torture to my thumb which I hit every word against the edge of the bezel in front of the keyboard. Well, I don't really need all that power, but since Dell had those muscles on "sale" I got them, which appeared to be waste of my time and their recourses.
I need a machine with a screen which has a white (not Dell blue) background and can be easily read whole day; and the keyboard that is ok to work on, Toshiba will do. Play UT sometimes, so independent card a must, otherwise I would not have these searches and just picked up something integrated from CompUSA with rebates and be marry with it. The biggest dilemma is a screen and keyboard, which Dell lucks big time.

1. If descrete memory is a must to play your games, then the A75 is out of the question. It uses an ATI 9000IGP GPU with shared video memory. This is not recommended for gaming.
2. Toshiba's are not known for having powerful Pentium M notebooks with strong graphics cards with dedicated video memory. They ony have a few models that fit this bill. Satellite M30X (Customizable), a Tecra A4 (Customizable) & their Qosmio line.
3. Fan noise might be an issue with P4 based notebooks. You may want to get yourself a Pentium M notebook. Runs cooler and therefore less fan noise.
4. The screens used in these units are either 15.4" or 17" (Qosmio G15) Tru-Brite LCD's, but they're all only WXGA resolutions (1280x800, 1440x900 for G15). They're brighter than standard LCD's and the colors are much more vivid (for watching DVD's). You can get one with a Tru-Brite LCD or you can use the standard LCD's which should be fine for standard web and office apps.
