which one has the best performance and a 15.4 to 17 inch screen, longer than 3 hours of battery life, and not too hot or noisy?
    thanks!

P305 or X205 probably, but they are expensive. if I were to buy a Toshiba , I would buy a M305 with aTI(asian version).

But since you are in the US , you should check a Dell or HP as well. if you have to get a Toshiba in the US, I'd say go for the A305 with ATI 3650.

I dont know why though, the US version of M305 is weaker than Asian version of it.................P 305 in the US is better than Asian version of it..........so it totally depends on what country you order it in.

yeah i will be buying this in the US. And i don't really like the way they designed the new HPs otherwise i think they r very well made and dell might be questionable. But i was considering getting a toshiba because i think they are well built and designed and i was looking to get maybe a little cheaper and better battery life than the alienware m15x that i am looking at. Thanks for all your help!

Well, it's a bit of a beast (big and heavy), and I don't think it will make 3 hours on battery (unless you get a more powerful replacement battery), but the X205-S9800 is on sale now at many places and recently sold for as low as around $1100. I got one for $1250 a few months back and am very pleased with it. Not perfect, but a nice laptop and solid and well built. Has enough ummphf! for casual gaming (e.g. runs Crysis at native res, medium settings nicely), nice 17" screen for watching DVD's, decent keyboard, lots of ports (though I don't like having 4 of the 6 USB ports at front, right), nice appearance (in my opinion), and so on. Worth checking out. You can also get the previous model HP's on sale and I got over $500 off on one a few weeks back for my son. Super value.

    Good luck!

no Alienware , I meant the XPS M1530 , I could not buy it due to my being in Thailand but other wise , there was no contest for me.

I'm now seriously thinking of the A305 after reading Kevin's review here.

It's amazingly good for the price and only one thing I hated about myold Toshiba was the key board and Kevin says it 's improved and he says it is one of the best around.

The aTI HD3650 is a good Graphics , I was kinda positively surprised how well it compared to the NV9500GS of the ASUS M51.

Now, I am debating between this Toshiba or M1330 (a small dell), or buy both.

Take care, I think HPs are not so great if you are interested in a bigger lappy than a 14.1.

    I like small HPs though.
