Took the plunge and got myself a brand new Toshiba Qosmio X305-Q705, it just came out from Best Buy. My question is, despite knowing I can create recovery discs for this laptop, WHERE on Toshiba's website can I order recovery discs? I think I have looked at most links on the Toshiba website, but I could be wrong.

The Best Buy dude told me that about all Toshiba's come with recovery discs (which is true), with the exception of the Qosmio line. Why Toshiba decided this, I don't know, but the guy said it had to do with you can either make discs for the 32-bit version OR 64-bit version, not both. Can I make discs for BOTH 32-bit and 64-bit versions???

And... where do I get Toshiba's recovery discs for the particular model?

    Thanks for the help.

Call Toshiba Support and let them know. That is what I did and they sent me the 3 CD's for free. I hope this helps. God Bless :)

be carefull, I've heard that once you ACTIVATE 32bit or 64bit, it locks that version to your product key, SO you should decide beforehand which one you plan on running. I doubt the original install has done this, but once you reinstall yourself, you will likely be commited to that version.

I called Microsoft retail CS regarding a Dell maching that came with 64bit, and they told me I could not change it to 32bit on the same product key. The Toshiba license may be different, but you can't automatically get and either/or option from Microsoft.

I do not think this is true, but I could be wrong. I have installed the 32-bit and 64-bit of Vista on my laptop using the Toshiba recovery CD's for my laptop. If it were not allowed I believe it would not activate and I would not be able to get Microsoft upgrades with it. Just my thought. God Bless :)
