More to the point does anyone know where to find a disassemble diagram guide for the x505-898? I'm going to attempt to change out the i7 740 for a i7 940xm. The nearest diagram I could find was the disassemble guide for the x305 model.

The last Toshiba I changed the processor in was my old satellite A205, and I basically had to take the whole thing apart I LEARNED ALOT :p). And from what I see from the disassemble guide of the x305, that still has to be done. Soooooo, does anyone know if Toshiba made it easier to get to the procressor in the x505 series, or is it still a pain the the backside?

    Thanks

yes this I'd like to know also, since I want to change my i5 dual core to a quad i7, if it's even possible.

I'm not sure about your model, but I do not think Toshiba has changed anything, really. I had to take my whole laptop apart before I could get to my CPU. I mean the whole laptop, a pain. Not upgrade friendly at all. The GPU was easy to reach tou. I guess you'll have to disassembly and try it out by your own.

If it's anything like my A300, you'll need to take the whole thing apart to get to the processor. Take top cover off, flip motherboard, etc. Much like tunay's (can't get that weird "n" thing, lol) X500.

Also, let it be known that removing the processor voids the warranty on Toshiba notebooks.
