Hi. I am going to be purchasing a notebook in the next week or two. I have decided that I want it to be Toshiba, but I can't quite decide on which model I want.

I am a construction project manager and need to use the notebook as a portable office as well as on site and at home.

The three main features it needs are that it needs to be durable, it needs to have long battery life, and it needs to have a good warranty.

I would like a 14 or 15 inch screen, but am not picky.

Will not be running any processor intensive programs. I would like a DVD drive, though.

    Please advise. Thank you.

    Keith.

P.S. Cost is not that big of an issue.

Since you're a construction project manager, will you be on site while the construction is happening? If so, you may want to get yourself a rugged notebook instead. They'll withstand a lot more abuse than a standard notebook. I don't think Toshiba has any rugged notebooks, but I know HP & Panasonic sell them.

If that's not a route you want to go, then let's look at what Toshiba has to offer.

If you're looking for a notebook with a good warranty & good battery life, you'll want to get yourself a Tecra notebook with a Pentium M CPU. I believe all the Tecra's have a Pentium M CPU's. For battery life, make sure it's got a large cell count. 8 or more is recommended. I don't know if any of the Tecra's can have their batteries upgraded to a 12 cell battery, but they do have a hot-swappable module where a 2nd battery can be added (the optical drive can be pulled out when not in use and a 2nd battery can be put in its place, almost doubling your runtime).

yea...venombite's right...and if you want a really rugged notebook...then the Panasonic laptops would be right for you...but the only problem is that it is pretty costly
