I've just had a little idea spring to mind. I hope it hasn't been done before and that no one will get mad at me doing this.

    Here's the idea.

Every laptop manufacturer/brand has something unique about it. Each have their advantages and disadvantages, and their fanbase. Something must draw the fans to this brand or that, and I'd like to know what.

So I'm gonna post a thread like this in the forums dedicated to each of the major manufacturers (i.e. the ones who have the most active forums).

I welcome everyone (especially the fans of the particular brand) to post what is it that they like about these laptops. Any reasons are welcome - from features and performance to price and family traditions.

Of course, you can also post things that you don't like.

So, why do you like Toshiba?

me got my toshiba m40 because of its superior geforce 6600 video card with decent price. I was looking for a game mobile machine and definitely it's the best buy.

I like some of their proprietary software, especially their "Touch and Launch" application, really neat! :)
Also love their screens, I feel they are the best outside of Sony's and Fujitsu's.

Yeah, Toshiba's proprietary software is pretty nice - I especially like their nifty power-saving software - much better than Windows'. I also really like Toshiba's TruBrite screens (especially the Qosmio line). They actually pioneered this area with other companies like Sony and Fujitsu

They are one of the old time leaders in notebooks and their screens are knockouts at the store.

I'll welcome myself to this forum :D

I got my toshiba satelite m70-144 a couple of weeks ago.

    System specs: 15.4" 1280x800 PM 740, x700 (128 dedicated, 128 mb shared.) 60GB 5.4k RPM. and 512 MB RAM.

I ran 3DMark 05 and got 3005 overclocked. I consider this very good with so little RAM and a not so hot CPU.

Pros: -High Performance for an unbeatable pricetag.
-Harman-Kardon speakers, their awesome looking and produce good sound, at least when you turn off the preinstalled acoustics.
-The screen is amazing. However the resolution cold be higher.

Cons: -The resolution, i wish it was a wsxga, i belive that would be perfect.
-I did not care for the preinstalled software, except for the Toshiba Powersaver or what i¨'s called. I'm from norway and the software has a different name :d
-Perhaps the batterylife, I have it plugged in the wall-socket 95% of the time, however it would be nice to have it running for about 3 hours or so ;)

    Overall score: :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) out of 10 smileys!

I'd give my Toshiba a 9 or 10 out of 10. Only reason I'd give it a 9 is because of the lack of a video card, but then again, maybe its a good thing since I have a lot of work to do in college and am already wasting my time just surfing the internet, especially this website. ;)

Otherwise, my unit is perfect. Its very fast, the screen is cystal clear, bright and crisp, no build quality issues whatsoever, the speakers are fantastic, etc.

Maybe the only minor annoyance is all the bloatware I have to get rid of, but then again, this isn't exclusive to Toshiba.

I feel that Toshiba is making a comeback again especially with all the people saying its quality has decreased in recent years, GO TOSHIBA!!! :D :D

I need to get a keyboard skin though....

Well some gaming rigs have up to 8 built-in speakers, so they might have an advantage over the twin speakers in most Toshibas ;) The Qosmio might though - they've got a pair massive 1" speakers.

There's definately better notebook speakers out there, but for the price and size, I feel that the HK speakers in my M55 are hard to beat!
I'm not much of an audiophile anyways, the speakers in my tiny 10" Fujitsu Lifebook P5020D were plenty loud for me, so I can get used to just about any pair of laptop speakers out there. :)
