Why doesn't Toshiba offer higher resolution displays on higher-end models???

I've owned two Toshibas over the years and had a great experience both times! I've considered Toshiba the last three or so times I've ordered a new laptop, but there is always one deal-breaker for me...the lack of higher resolution display options! The A500 (16") should really offer something greater than a 1366x768 display...if not a 1920x1080 (Full HD), then at least a 1600x900 option...and the 1600x900 would also be a great option on the M500 (14")!

Dell offers display upgrades on numerous consumer models, including some entry-level Inspiron models. Toshiba really needs to start offering choices....

Actually Asus has quite a few higher end laptops with full HD displays.

I do agree with you on Toshiba though, even 1280 x 800 is low for 15.4.

Not to mention that they have an 18.4" notebook with a 1680 x 945 resolution screen.

Its an option. And its really good option, since I was looking for ages for good notebook with good display but standard DPI (nearer to 96).

I'm not sure, but for a high end 18.4 notebook, 1680 x 945 is substandard.

The move from 16:10 to 16:9 has screwed up screen resolutions with many manufacturers, not just Toshiba. Five years ago you could buy a 17" with either 1680x1050 or 1920x1200. Today 1080p is all the rage, and the 17/18 market is dominated by 1920x1080 displays - I'm thinking Toshiba is lazy to follow. Of all the manufacturers, Dell and Sager/Clevo are the only two left AFAIK that still produce a 1920x1200 notebook on the high end.

It's interesting that the HP Envy with the 15.6" display is available with 1920x1080.

I remember Toshiba used to have a 17" with 1920x1200 display (G35 I think). It's too bad they didn't offer this panel on the X305-Q708.

People, you are aware the X505-Q850 has 1980x1080 dual-CCFL display, are you? That's exactly the difference between Q830 and Q850 - to give a choice to people who don't want to pay more for resolution they don't need.
