Hey everyone, as some of you may know Toshiba announced and revealed the P40 series laptop a couple of months ago. The laptop was revealed alongside its siblings the P50 and P70. While the P50 and P70 are readily available the P40 is not. To my mind it would appear that this is due to a change of strategy. In order to force consumers to buy one of these lacking notebooks being marketed as ultrabooks.

What a lot of the manufacturers do not realize though is that some consumers are just going to hold off on spending on a new laptop until one that meets their needs comes out. I only like 14" or 13.3" laptops but I need premium specs currently no manufacturer has a model with this screen size that suits my needs. The P40 was the only one that would appear to be a worthy upgrade from my P745.

Currently the P50 also has great specs and I wish there was a 14" model that could be similarly configured.

What I am finding now is that manufacturers have basically said anything under 15" let us try to put it in the ultrabook category. So we will not have any premium speced laptops under 15" that is not an ultrabook. They do this to the detriment of the corner of the market that needs a large hard drive, needs an optical drive etc.

    What do you all think?

So the year is coming to a close and despite announcing both the P40, P50 and P70 six months ago, the P40 is nowhere to be seen.

Way to go Toshiba *rolls eyes* Now instead of upgrading my Toshiba P745 to another Toshiba I seriously thinking about buying from one of your competitors.

Hey Didymus7, neither the Portege nor the Tecra series can be speced out to the extent of the P series. I need a laptop with 16gb ram, 1.5tb hd etc.

Well after months of waiting on Toshiba without any real response. I will be buying the Sony Flip 14 inch convertible laptop.
    14", i7, 1 tb, 8gb ram, bt, backlit keyboard.
Toshiba you really dropped the ball on this one.
