Ok guys, I love notebooks with crazy GPU and I recently clicked into one of those advertisment from Toshiba and brought me to the sight of the Satellite P100. However, one thing I observed from the people in this forum is that they all seem to like the Satellite P105 much better than the P100. I tried the search function a few times and there seems to be a lot more discussion about the P105 then the P100. I personally think the P100 is better simply because of the high-end GPU it offers (Geforce Go7900GTX) . You can even get one for under $2000 but with a slower CPU... The P105 only has a Geforce Go7900GS and I just don't understand how come no one recommends this notebook to others. Everytime when someone wants to buy a 17 inch laptop then someone will recommend P105 (why not the P100???)...

The p100 wasnt always that good back in the day.

Old ones didnt have dual touchpad or finger print readers and came with 1024mb ram. Where p105 came with 2048mb and all above features for less money and only slightly slower 7900gs which could be overclocked to gtx speeds so it was a waste.

I know the top model p100 costs $2900 where you can get top model p105 for $1800 (rebate amazon)which is a awsome price for what you get.

p100 is faster now but also costs more.

    p100 2ghz core2duo.
    1680x1050 resolution.
    2048mb ram.
    100gig 7200rpm hdd.
    nvidia 7900 gtx 512mb.
    Plain orange lid.

    p105 2ghz core2duo.
    1440x900 resolution.
    2048mb ram.
    200gig 4200rpm hdd.
    nvidia 7900 gs 256mb.
    Nice metallic blue onyx lid.

    i bought a p105-s9722 :D

    So u would take a 1.83 coreduo over 2ghz core2duo? and 80gig hdd over 200gig hdd? and 1024mb ram over 2048mb ram?for 100$ more?

the 7900gtx isnt that much faster. So its a waste dude.

But doesn't the P105 have a slower hard drive which is only 4200rpm? And also I thought core 2 duo is only faster than core duo for about 10%... so that wasn't too bad I guess? So you're saying the 7900GTX is not much better than the 7900GS even after overclocking both of them? :O About the extra 1 GB RAM I thought you can always go shop online for a cheap price anyway...

Both GPUs are very powerful. With the other components, it comes down to your personal preferences and needs.

Yea the p105 has a 4200rpm hdd but its not like its dead slow and 200gig is awsome. All my games loads exactly the same as my desktop pc with 7200rpm. The thing im trying to make you see is you can overclock the 7900gs for free then get loads of extra performance but if you want that p100 other components faster its gona cost you to put in a core2duo 2ghz and its gona cost you for more 1028mb ram :D.

The core2duo is maybe 10% faster than coreduo but you are getting a 2ghz core2duo in a p105 and a 1.83ghz coreduo p100 so its actually more % faster :D. P105 is cheaper and better i think unless u fork out for top model p100 but thats $900+ more that will only be 5 fps to 10 frames faster in games all stock.
