I have a Toshiba A215-S5808 w/ Vista Home Premium pre-loaded on it, and was thinking of trying Windows XP Pro just to see how it performs. I have every single driver EXCEPT for the SATA driver I will inevitably need for XP to see the hard drive during installation. I have scoured the internet for 2 hours now and have only found SATA drivers for Intel-based models, and mine is of course AMD/ATI.

Has anyone out there successfully located the SATA driver for the A215 models?

Did you get your onboard audio codec to install correctly? I couldn't.

As for th SATA driver, just use the one from Intel for your chipset. I had one that didnt need the f6 floppy but did need the support later in XP so I used an extracted from another floppy for the correct driver and then used it to update the unknown PCI device. It showed as not likely to be conpatable but I gave it a try and it worked for me. I get an item as Intel 82801GHM for my SCSI device but not sure if it is the correct one.

What did you end up getting for your SCSI device for Intel SATA RAID controller?

Ok, here's my nightmare story on how my Vista to XP downgrade went:

My A215-S5808 is AMD/ATI based, so no Intel drivers applied to mine. I found all my XP drivers from the Australian Toshiba site. I popped in my XP cd, and it recognized my SATA hard drive fine, and the install started. I got to the desktop and proceeded to install all the drivers for my hardware. Everything went perfectly until I got to the very LAST driver...the Toshiba Software Modem. I tried the driver from the Australian Toshiba site, and no go. I looked on the US Toshiba site and the modem driver was labeled Vista/XP. I downloaded it, and it didn't work either. I ended up downloading at least 5 other drivers and not a single one would work. Since I live in the sticks and dial-up is all I have, I had to give up and load my Vista Ghost image back on so I could have a working modem.

After all that time I spent I was ultra pissed in the end, but at least now I know I won't be running XP on my A215. :D

    Can anyone help?

I need the Win XP Pro drivers for my Toshiba A215-S5808 laptop but have not found them anywhere. Tantrixx posted 8 months ago that they were available on the Australian Toshiba site. I think this is the Australian Toshiba site but I have not found the drivers there.

Tantrixx, do you still have the drivers or know where to get them? Would you post them on http://rapidshare.com/ or Skype them to me? Please let me know asap. Thanks

I have them for my x205.....but a CLEAN install of Vista, along with SP1, makes Vista very comperable to XP performance wise, and some of the graphical improvements of Vista are very compelling. I've gone back and forth several times now, and I'll likely be switching back to Vista permanentaly soon (ie when I have time to do it)
