I have a Toshiba A300 (a machine basically like an A305) and have installed Windows 7 32 bit. I have had trouble with my machine blue screening and crashing because of the ATI Mobility Radeon 3650 graphics card / and related drivers.
Has anyone had similar trouble? Has anyone found drivers that seem to solve problems with crashing?

I'm running mine with drivers and it's fine. I suggest you try to update or reinstall. Also, how are you sure it's your drivers?

Hi Shadow -
Well, the machine keeps crashing and I had posted the minidump file on the "sevenforums" website and someone read it for me and said it was a driver problem. Also, in the Reliability Monitor on Win7 it is listing the problem as "A problem with your video hardware caused Windows to stop working correctly".
I tried to update the driver and Windows told me the best ones were already installed. So I "rolled back" my drivers to 8.56.1.15 (dated 4/24/09) and that didn't work. Then I reinstalled driver 8.632.1.2000 (dated 8/17/09) and it didn't work. They both seem to be problematic.
I'd love to know what version of the drivers you are using and where you downloaded them from.
Thanks!
PS - I never had a problem with Vista 32 bit. -
I got mine from Windows Update when I installed Windows 7.
They didn't come with the software suite, but they work fine, and I'm alright since I never used the software suite anyway, in Vista.
From what I understand, if you can roll back a driver, that must mean that you have multiple driver versions installed? Correct? If so, that's bad, as having more than one display driver can actually cause a BSOD, as it did on my desktop. What I suggest you do is uninstall ALL the video drivers that are on the machine, use Driver Sweeper to clean out the remnants, and then install a new driver either using a desktop suite and then modding it with Mobility Modder. Or alternatively you could just use the 9.9 Beta that ATI released for Windows 7.
Worst comes to worst and it's still crashing, reformat and use Windows Update, or use Mobility Modder.
Here is a good guide on using Mobility Modder, and I think this is a later version than the one in the earlier link. It has support for Windows 7, and in the list of supported cards it has the 3650 there.
Good luck. -
Thanks for the info Shadow. I'll check it out.

Problem solved (after many months). Had to switch the displayed colors from 64 to 32 bit. Strange - no more crashing.
