A few days ago I bought the A505-S6965 and I can get a free upgrade to Windows 7. My question is, can I mail a copy of the original receipt and a cutout of the model number and serial number of the computer from the original box?

I sent ours in via the website, which was very quick and easy, and it has already been approved. If you are going to mail yours in, I would probably include a copy of the receipt, and then just write the serial number on a piece of paper along with your name, ship-to-address, e-mail address and your phone number, as they instructed on the upgrade offer sheet.

I did the same as you duval, it was easy, and I also have been approved. I think you would be a better served by just scanning the receipt and enter your serial number in the upgrade website. If a scanner is not available, try using a digital camera and make sure the picture is clear enough to read.
