I'm planning to do a clean install of Windows 8 on a friend's Toshiba Satellite laptop A135-S2376. Could anyone please guide me with links to the various drivers and utilities? The laptop came with Windows Vista, and after 6 years or so, is ready for a fresh install of the OS. There is no recovery disc or partition.
Any help appreciated. TIA

Installed Windows 8 pro 64 bit.
Graphics driver was a PITA. Toshiba support website and ATI/AMD website did not yield suitable drivers. Finally got a modded driver from here: Modded Drivers for ATI Legacy Devices? - Guru3D.com Forums
Everything else seems to be working.
I am not pleased that the hard drive is running off a Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller. This is a generic driver from Microsoft. If someone can steer me towards a proper driver I would appreciate it. -
I needed to use DSEO (driver signature enforcement override) to sign all the unsigned graphics driver files before it would stay loaded. Working now even after reboots, but crashes sometimes. No temperature sensor for the graphics hardware, so can't tell if it is related to overheating.

W8 isn't supported in that old of laptop and your best options would've been to go with W7 instead of W8. If you trying to get W8 a start menu you were better off with a W7 O/S installation.

I'm thinking it is more of a 64 bit thing. This laptop was never designed for a 64 bit OS. I'll try with a 32 bit OS next time.
I also think that there might be other issues, like dry thermal paste. The GPU is not showing a thermal sensor, so can't really check that without opening up the blasted thing. The air flow from the vent also seems a little weak, but never having used this when it was new, I can't really say how powerful the fan is in this.
If nothing works, I'll have to go with a Lite version of Vista, turning off as many of the resource hungry features as possible.
