who is graduating in May and attending college in the fall. I would appreciate some of you Gurus helping me find one that is (1) durable (2) fast (3)4gig memory (4) 500gig hard drive and turns 7500rpm if you recommend it. I would like to not spend over $1200 but would consider more it needed to.
If you can help it will be appreciated.
    Thanks

Most saw my post from yesterday and might think this is about the same thing. But its not I am going to purchase a new laptop for my self right away’ the grandsons will be purchased in May before graduating. Bottom line I am not a computer guru and need all the help I can get before I purchase both. I think I have settled for myself a 18 ¼ inch Satellite Laptop with AMD Turion™ II Dual-Core Mobile Processor - $749 (if you dont lik my choice let me know)
Again if you can help me with my grandsons purchase I will appreciate it.
    Thanks

Get him a Mac, because then the ladies will be all over him. Women seem to have a natural aversion to PC's, and love Macs, I don't know why.

And why an open box machine? That means that you pretty much get NOTHING, only the laptop. You don't get restore discs, accessories.

Because you can burn your own restore disks. And it's a great notebook within his budget.

True, but it wouldn't get the charger with it, would it? Because open box motherboards you get the motherboard and nothing else. You don't even get the backplate for swapping it out or the manual for the connections.

I don't know how newegg does it, but I bought my notebook online as an open box and I got the charger (even got xp downgrade disks). I didn't get the vista recovery disk (I did burn my own as soon as it came) and the user manual. I guess you could call and ask before you buy.

I see. I only said it because of what I've heard of open box motherboards though. If you get the charger and discs with it that would be an excellent deal.
