For anyone who needs or wants my personally created X205 disassembly guide here is the link so you can download it anytime. Someone on this forum had asked me to create this so after having upgraded my cpu I went and took the laptop apart again just to create this guide, it's not the best guide ever but I hope it helps someone out there who wants to or needs to disassemble their X205 laptop.

    Enjoy!!!! :D :p

Well, I am very happy with it, in FEAR at 1280x800 with all settings maxed I went from an average of 52fps(with T7100) to 92fps(with T7700) and at 1440x900 my average is around 84fps(with T7700) with the same settings all maxed.

    :p ;) :D

i still cant believe how much is entailed to do this ... i did one for a freind over the weekend turned out to amazingly enough be a bad cpu we had to tear it apart again today.. it is really a heck of a job to do it.. i mean just to get to the cpu.. makes barebones systems so much nicer to me

No man, Hard Drive and RAM are the easiest to upgrade in most laptops..

I just went from a Fujitsu 200GB 4200RPM HDD to my new Hitachi 200GB 7200RPM HDD.... What a Difference let me say!

Wow very nice guide. Looks very professional. Anyways I'm not a newbie when it comes to Laptops but this does seem a little too involved for me. I'll probably upgrade it when I'm ready to sell it. In the meantime if I want better performance I think Ill jus stick to my HTPC. But when the time comes this guide will be a great timesaver. Thanks again for it!

Thanks for the guide. I will probably use it when I will probably get a T9x00 for my SLi4, when more models come out or they get cheaper.

I got a call today and they told me that they installed the video cards today and are just gonna test it to make sure all is working ok and I may get it back tomorrow if not hopefully on Friday and they did it under warranty as they never did ask me if anyone had taken it apart which is a big relief.

Major PROPS for this awsome guide  I have one question though, when you go to put the northbridge and cpu back in, i was wondering if you are really supposed to put arctic silver on the northbridge??? i noticed in another thread that someone mentioned it is a bad idea to use it on the northbridge becuase of its capacitive properties.... if this is true it might be a good idea to mention that arctic silver "ceramic" can be used instead. Thanks again for the guide it is a life saver!

I used Arctic Silver on the cpu and Ceramique on the north bridge chip just to be on the safe side.

Update: I just picked up my laptop from the service center and it's working great again. One thing that almost made me laugh in front of the guy at the service center, cause he said the laptop could not handle Vista 64Bit cause the 8600M GT has only 32 stream processors and Vista 64Bit stressed and broke the cards and they could not install drivers for the video cards so they wanted me to restore the Vista Home Edition 32Bit LOL!!!! :D :D . Obviously they had no idea what they are talking about, I told them to give me the laptop and I would take care of it and I had it back to normal in less than 5 minutes. I am at least very happy they fixed it in 3 days. :p :p

The guide will work for the sli1 as well, I swapped the motherboard from my 9349 to the sli1 and everything worked, you cannot upgrade the video card as it is a proprietary board designed by Toshiba and not an mxm board.

Thanks for the quick reply jesse, so its good to know that you can swap the motherboard to the sli1 and back, now your right, forgot that the video card is propietary, but then it means, that lets say i have two X205-s9800 and a SLi4 for example. Does it mean that i could very well take the two cards from the s9800 and put them in the sli4? Or are the cards welded and stuff?

Great guide, I have two questions, one is simple the other a little bit harder. Ok first the easy one, is it really possible to have dual cores of different models? I thought that would cause some sort of hindrance, similar to two different SLI graphics cards.

And now the reason I am really here. I'll be honest, I'm pretty dumb. I put a 2 gig flash card into the ExpressCard reader upside down/backwards, and now its so far back i can put another one in and it will click and read. Anyway, i was wondering if there is a way to pop it out or remove it with minimal disassembly as I'm only 7 months into a 3 year warranty :) any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

You'd think they would have built a failsafe for people as dumb as I, I cant be the only one to have done this ha.

Yes, you should be able to put the cards from the sli4 and put them in the s9800 and they should fit and work just fine, the are attached to the motherboard with the connector.

You can put any socket P dual core processor and it should work fine, to try and get to the stuck flash card you would need to basically disassemble the entire laptop and remove the motherboard so I would recommend you take it to a Toshiba authorized service center they can remove the flash card and it may be covered by the warranty? I think, but it would not hurt to ask.

Jesse, I tried to download your file and it there was an error :(. My CPU Fan is making a winding noise. I've cleaned it out good with air, but still is making noise. I just need to know how to take it apart far enough to replace the fan. If you could email me that guide or re post it I'd be appreciative.

    Thanks,
    CD.

an old thread, but i'm still loving this laptop. i hope that there are still some fans out there as well.

ANYwho, my sli nvidia 8600M gt's just died, so i'm in the process of replacing them. i'd prefer not to open the laptop up more than once if i don't have to, so while i'm in there i'll upgrade the cpu as well.

jesse, you mentioned that any socketP could be put into this motherboard. does that still apply? could i put a Core 2 Duo T9900 into this laptop??
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_Core_2_microprocessors

or would that put undue stress on it, and shorten it's life...?

    thanks in advance,

You can not put a t9900 as it has a 1066Mhz Fsb and the motherboard can only support a 800Mhz Fsb. you can upgrade to either a t9300 or x9000. Make sure u have the lastest bios install before putting the processor.

Hello guys, I have a problem with my X205-S9800: PSPB9U-04N026. My internal speakers quit working, but headphones work. I have tried drivers, registry, control panel(Sound & RealTek) properties and settings. If i hold the plug from headphones just right in computer jack I get sound from internal speakers. I figure and sure that the jack in the computer is messed up. From research it seems I have to replace the motherboard to fix this issue, is there another way to fix?
If not sparepartswharehouse.com has motherboard for around 270.00. Can I upgrade anything in there while having computer torn apart? CPU to a T9300, where do you buy different grease's, motherboard upgrade, video and audio upgrades. Any help on where to buy the upgrades at best prices and what the upgrades help would be appreciated.
