When I used it on my TV, my TV showed the whole picture nothing was cut off. I didn't play with any of the settings either. The only thing that I noticed the NB did was it automatically lowered the resolution so the picture could fit on my TV. My TV brand is ProView.

Enable pixel-to-pixel mapping on your TV? (Deactivate overscan)

    It's not your notebooks fault.

HDMI provides the video. What do you guys use for audio. I read you can use a Y cable from the headphone out to connect to your receiver for left/right speakers. But, this is not surround sound. What's the point of watching HD DVD without the sweet audio also.

I know for games it doesn't but the NB should send audio to the TV when watching a movie. I know it can send audio via the HDMI cable cause I tested it through the NB. I haven't bought a HD DVD yet to test it but it should do it.

HDMI is for audio and video. My PS3 only needs the HDMI cable for games and Blu Ray movies.

In regards to the NB. The individual programs probably control if the sound goes through the HDMI or not. CC3 doesn't have settings for HDMI but the HD DVD program on the NB should.

Ah, the legacy of CRT (where overscan started). I too have a CRT HDTV with no ability to adjust overscan (at least in the normal menus). Depending on your manufacturer, you might be able to get into the diagnostic menus, and adjust it (I have a JVC 30W777 and I use the remote status button and something else to get to it). You might want to go over to http://www.avsforum.com/ and look in the forums for information on your TV. The guys in the CRT HDTV forum are really helpful, and would probably help you out.
