Hello all, I've had my X205 for a day now and its great! I have a Panasonic Projector and I'm tring to use my x205 to watch Transformers on HDDVD. I was able to get dolby digital 5.1 via SPDIF to work with your help. When I use the HDMI output into the HDMI in on my projector, the movie seems dark (but not that bad). Also, when I exit out of the movie, the windows dekstop seems to be cutoff on the left side. The icons on the left of my desktop are cutoff. I am using FN F5 until I get the HDMI only option to get the image on my projector.

    My questions are:

    1. Is there a special mode I need to enter to watch HDDVDs? Am I doing this the best way?

    2. What settings can I use to adjust the brightness on the hdmi output?

    3. Why is the left side on my projector image being cutoff?

    THanks!

    1. Adjust the nvidia control panel for overscan... just play with the settings in multiple displays.

    2. Media center has settings for that, but it may be the driver you're using.

    3. Overscan. Also try changing the resolution being output.

Nvidia control panel doesn't do squat for the brightness of the hd dvd movies...and I looked in the Media Center options also, didn't see anything that helped. I've been there, done that. I would like to know also how to brighten it up. If anyone with the same laptop has found out how, please let me know also. Looks even darker using hdmi out.

In a hotel so I can't test it... sorry if I'm full of poop.

Nvidia control panel has (video and television) at the bottom. First page adjusts brightness, contrast, hue... etc. Are you sure you're applying the settings to the external display and not the Laptop? Have you tried the stock driver after a clean driver install?

Toshiba HDDVD player has settings to adjust overscan and contrast.

Brightness on the Projector can't be turned up?
