So spent 2 hours on the phone with some tech in Pakistan and wanted to kill him afterwards. There's 2 hours of my life I'll never get back.

Anyways, I'm going line in on my X205 SL1 and I see the VU meters accepting the incoming signal via the sound control panel. However, I cannot get the laptop speakers to output this sound. Sometimes the HDMI is taking the output signal, but can't swap to the speakers.

I was using an IPOD to the line in, just to get something in. The great tech guy I talked to said it was an apple/itunes problem. I calmly said, it doesn't matter what my input signal is: could be a ipod, turntable, cd deck etc..., as long as it was a line source it didn't matter. He put me on hold again and came back and said it was an apple problem. I swear if I had the time, I would've flown to Pakistan and made a house/cave visit.

Any ideas to get the line in to be recognized via the speaker/laptop outs? Basically, I wanna take a guitar/drums in and record via Reaper.

Thanks all and for letting me vent a little.
