Hey guys, another X205 question.. I was trying to program my dual-mode touchpad for previous track and next track functions.. and realized none of my media-player-related hotkeys (top row by power button, pause/next track/prev track/etc) none of them have any function whatsoever. The only key that works is the media player key (music note symbol), which opens windows media player, even though my default music player is Winamp. Can anyone help get these buttons working?

The media keys also work with iTunes as long the window is selected. I always use the media keys for iTunes, put the player in mini mode and just listen to my songs while I do work.

By the way, yea Acorn is right. I think it is mostly for Windows Media Player. Works great, too, even when you minimize windows media player and have another windows selected or just doing somehitng else. The player minimizes into your taskbar and as long as the media player is open you can totally control your playlist with the buttons; play, stop, back and forward track.

they should work with most multimedia software... i know they work at least with the toshiba dvd software too. I also think you should be able to program those keys somehow but i am at work without my sli1 so i will have to check this out later

There is a setting in Winamp to use "default media keys" or somesuch. Checking that box will enable your media keys in winamp.

As to using the music player button(musical note) to launch winamp, I've never tried that, so I can't help ya there. But I would venture a guess that the setting for that would either be
    a)inside a toshiba "helper" application
    or
b)buried in the control panel somewhere under some strange options tab

edit:: I'll check for the exact option when I get off work.

Winamp preferences->general preferences->global hotkeys, check "Enable default multimedia key support"

You can also enable keystroke combinations to perform various functions in winamp via the low part of this dialog(default multimedia keys refers to your fixed buttons on the upper trim near the monitor)

Thanks guys, changed the Winamp option and it works fine now. Although I'm not as concerned with changing the Media Player key, it would be nice to know how, and if there are any 3rd party programs to quickly change the values of any/all of these keys (similar to Synaptics dual touchpad customizing tool, maybe?)
